He’s trying to be good

Bentley knows there’s hell to pay if he even touches the laptop. Doesn’t stop him from laying on my BarBri notes though.

He only thinks he wants to come with me

One of Bentely’s favorite hiding spots is inside my motorcycle touring bag. Too bad he can’t come with me tomorrow.

This one’s a topper!

This is by far the biggest animal Bentley has ever brought home. I think he caught it munching on my radishes. Who knew my cat would be such a good garden defender?

I’m ready for my closeup

Bentley hasn’t been getting a lot of photo love these days. That’s because it’s prime hunting season, and he’s not around much. (The birds are back, but don’t know yet to watch out for the black death machine.) When he remembers to come home, it’s because he’s in need of some serious slumber, preferably nestled in the flannel comforter on our bed.

Nothing about his cuteness here excuses the fact that he bit me on the leg this evening, though. I picked up his wet food dish, retrieved the can of wet food from the fridge, and then got lost in conversation with Nick. When his near constant meowing didn’t result in any wet food being set on the floor, he decided a little chomp was in order. Who taught him that this was okay?! Sheesh…

Sunbeam Kitty

Proof that a catnip toy and a warm pool of sunlight is all you need for kitty bliss.

Hey there, you’ve got some food stuck on your chin

Three kills in two days means someone has restocked their bird feeder. We weren’t amused until we spied our little girl wandering around the house tonight - totally oblivious to the trail of feathers stuck to her chin. A good laugh at the least.

Fat Cat adoption

Monday, 04 January 2010

image

Our favorite no-kill cat shelter - MEOW Cat Rescue - is starting the new year with a “Fat Cat” adoption event. During the month of January, all adult cats (fat or not) will be adopted for $1 per pound. Pretty cool, considering adoption fees are normally $65 for an adult cat! If you’ve been thinking 2010 is the year to bring home a furry love-ball, please consider the cats at MEOW.

I’m gone five minutes and look what happens

What is it with my cats? When did they develop ESP that enabled them to divine the precise moment when I would walk away from doing research so they could dismantle and devour a bird? Seriously, I was reading ALL. MORNING. IN THE LIVING ROOM. Then, the moment I stepped away to take a shower, Bentley brought home his kill. Gggahhhh!

An evening in the Brown house

Monday, 16 November 2009

My cats like to chase things...and bring them home alive. Unfortunately, that means we have to deal with eradicating all sorts of things from our house, including rats, snakes, and moles. Today, I found something totally new in our office/spare bedroom.

A new episode of Simon’s Cat

I posted a couple new salad recipes on my other blog. If you’re not hungry yet, here’s a new cartoon to pass the time:
