Speaking of knitting, Nick demonstrated the ear warmers that my mom knitted us for Christmas. They attach to the straps of your bike helmet to keep you warm. The only flaw in the design is the fact that they have a tendancy to flop open at the top, acting like a cup for rain and snow.

We have yet to try them, so they might work well in practice.
