Nick holding Bernstein | Canon 10D, 28-105mm
We officially named the little boy kitty "Bernstein" yesterday. With his stubby little ears and round face we thought he looked a lot like a bear, which made us think of our favorite bear family - the Bernstein bears.
Both Bernstein and the little calico are growing about 16-20 grams every day. They don't leave the box on their own yet, but judging by how much time they spend gazing out of it, it won't be long now.

Meet bunchkin #2

Bunchkin has a new friend | Canon 10D, 28-05mm Lucy brought our bunchkin a new friend earlier this week - a beautiful little calico. She's two days younger than our little boy, but about 50 grams heavier.
Kitten stats: As of yesterday, the little silver boy weighed 138 grams and the calico weighed 170 grams.
Bentley Taco

Bentley in the sheets | Canon 10D, 28-105mm Ever since we started letting the cats in our bedroom they have slept on our bed. (It's good enough for us; it must be good enough for them, right?) Unfortunately, Bentley isn't keen to move when it's time to change the sheets as demonstrated in this picture. Nick simply wrapped him up and carried him away. Fortunately, Nick unwrapped Bentley before sticking the sheets in the washer!
Kitten update

The unnamed bunchkin | Canon 10D, 28-105mm
It's been a sad week in kitty land. On Tuesday, we lost the little black kitty. Turns out he had a severely deformed face - only one nostril, one eye and a cleft palatte. He wasn't able to drink milk from the mom and he didn't want to take a bottle. Rather than let him die slowly from malnutrition and dehydration, MEOW asked us to take him to Rose Hill Animal Hospital to be put to sleep. I cried, even though we'd only had him for four days.
On the upside, the one remaining kitten (pictured) seems really healthy. It is gaining weight steadily (it weighs 118 grams this morning!), and is very vocal. Its ears have started to come forward and he can crawl around with his belly off the ground - a big step in kitten development.
We've installed a heating pad in the box, so the kitten can have somewhere warm to curl up when Jet is out of the box. It's not easy being a kitten without any friends.
