I realized, somewhat ruefully, that I haven’t written anything on my blog lately except the odd Twitter post. No doubt, the lack of functioning computer at home has played a part. It also occurred to me this afternoon that writing must be one of those zero-sum things - sort of like children who sleep through the night (as soon as one kid does, someone else’s stops). Lately, all of my writing time and energy has gone into my Law Review article, leaving very little for the blog. No doubt, once my first draft is in this week, I will be willing to devote more energy here.
In the mean time, best wishes for a peaceful Thanksgiving holiday next weekend.
Nick and I babysat Ronan last night so Mike and Anne could enjoy their anniversary sans toddler. After a round of playing drive-thru espresso stand (his game, not ours), it was time for a ride on the pony. Of course, what would a ride be without a stuffed bunny? Eat your heart out Tonto.
Many people arm themselves with booze on election day (to celebrate or drown sorrows depending on the outcome). Nick and I go to Canada. The election results were favorable enough that we decided to use our return tickets. We sure did enjoy our time in Banff though. The annual film festival was fantastic as usual.
Nick and I are always in awe of people who attempt to ride a tandem off road. Riding a tandem is fun and can be challenging, but what these guys do is just nuts! Add in the difficulty of single-speed action and you’ve got a recipe for hard by any measure. This video shows some pretty technical riding. The cyclists, Marc Wittenberg and Gail Hotten, make it look easy-peasy, though.
Going on vacation has a tendency to make me think of other great vacations I’ve taken. That, in turn, reminded me I never pulled my pictures from our Oregon motorcycle adventure off the memory card. (Maybe this is the digital equivalent of waiting six months before developing your negatives.)
It looks like I have dust on my sensor (uh-oh), so it may take me a bit longer than usual to edit them. It’s raining pretty hard today, so maybe I’ll find the motivation to do that.
