I need to punch somebody
After a lovely dinner Saturday night, Nick and I came home to find all of the lights on in our house. We were shocked to think we’d been so careless until we got to the front door where we found ugly pry bar gashes on our door jam. The door was still locked, but we knew what we’d find when we got inside.
Fortunately we do not have any valuable jewelry or other really sentimental items, so they didn’t get much. They took my school laptop, though, which has me in a bit of tailspin thinking of how I’m going to get another one in time for finals. I also have a mega Legal Writing Memo due on Tuesday, which I will have to entirely redo.
Kirkland police sent an officer by, who took fingerprints. We also had the pleasure of being fingerprinted so they could check that the prints he took weren’t ours. It was quite an interesting process.
First, you get your hands a little greasy. (We used lotion.) Then you press your hand down on a piece of clean, white printer paper.

Then the officer waves his magic wand (filled with magnetic powder) over the print and - like magic - it appears on the page. Coolness!

Since this is the second time in a year and a half that our house has been broken into, we will be installing a deterrent device in the near future - possibly a hungry pit bull in the living room.
Comments:
sorry to hear that people are mean...but pretty cool to see the finger printing process.
