Sweet Justice

Monday, May 17, 2004

On Saturday, Mike, Doug, Perry, Phil and I tried to climb Mt. Daniel. Unfortunately, we were thwarted by an additional 4 mile approach on the road (ugh!). We made it to Peggy’s Pond before deciding that pizza in Roslyn sounded better than summiting in the rain and arriving back at the cars at 9 p.m.

There wasn’t anything remarkable about the actual climbing part of the trip. On the way out, though, we had an interesting encounter with a truck that was 4x4ing around huge snow banks and destroying the trees, bushes and undergrowth OFF THE ROAD.

They passed us, mud flying, dogs barking, children shouting, and then got stuck in the snow about 100 feet in front of us (sweet justice!). We were feeling too irked at their complete lack of respect for the landscape, so we avoided eye contact and didn’t offer to help them get unstuck or call a tow.

Petty, I know - but hey, we were irritated!

They must have gotten themselves really stuck, because after dinking around at the cars for 45 minutes, they still hadn’t driven out.

Village Pizza was great as usual grin
