A static image (updated every five minutes) of Mount St. Helens, taken from the Johnston Ridge Observatory

For those of you who have been following the news about Mount Saint Helens’s recent seismic activity, you can also watch her on the Web. Located at the Johnston Ridge Observatory, a VolcanoCam projects a fresh image on the Internet every 5 minutes of the crater from a distance of about 5 miles.

Currently, volcanologists have issued a level 3 alert, meaning activity is imminent. For contrast, the alert level was 5 in 1980 just before the eruption.
