$1094 down…$4,406 to go

Thursday, February 26, 2004
I broke the $1000 barrier today on my fundraising for the Big Ride! The best thing about this ride is the generosity that people have shown. What goes around, really does come around. And it feels so good!

Eastside Journal rocks!

This is way too exciting! Thanks to an inside connection at the Eastside Journal, the paper ran a story on my ride in last Sunday's paper. (Thanks Jeff for getting the info into the right hands!)

Land Rover Accident on Rainier

Rick's nearly indestructible Land Rover that we piled into a snow bank a couple years ago coming home from Mt. Rainier. (Notice the front and back wheels on the right side are off the road.)

This reminded me of something I've been dealing with lately as I get the Bianchi ready for the Big Ride: The vehicle is only as good as the tires...

Turns out, we only have one clincher wheel set for the two road bikes. We also have a set of tubular wheels, but Nick says the tires - get this - are glued onto the rims, making them extremely difficult to change if they get punctured. Since he's not willing to train on the tubulars and I wouldn't have the foggiest idea how to deal with them if I had to change them, I guess I'm stuck on the mountain bike until the new Mavic wheels arrive.

New Beginnings

Yea! After months of working on new site ideas, I've finally got something up! I'll be working over the next couple weeks to modify the design and add some photo albums, so stay tuned...
